The Purdy golf team took fourth place at the sectional golf tournament at Schifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin on Saturday.

Sacred Heart High School won the event, shooting a 313. Tipton High School was second with 330, and Drexel High School tallied a 331 for third place.

Phillip Roller was the Eagles' lone qualifier for the state tournament on May 16 and 17 at Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia. Roller shot an eight-over par to tie for sixth place.

"Phillip played real well at districts and sectionals," said Purdy Head Coach Grant Young. "He wants to roll his success over to state this year. He got a taste his freshman year at state. And now this year, he wants to do even better."

Also competing for the Eagles at sectionals were: Garren Nelson, +21; Alex Haworth, +22; Devon Keeler, +25; and Brady Wormington, +28.
