Monett tops Reeds Spring in five innings

The Monett Cubs baseball team downed Reeds Spring 10-0 on Friday.

Marcus Enloe got the Cubs on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the first inning.

Monett would add two more runs in the second.

With two outs in the second, Marcus McCaffrey reached on an error and scored on a Nicky Roberts single. Cooper Caldwell then singled to score Roberts.

The Cubs' lead grew in the fourth inning when with one out, Colten Phillips walked and Aldridge was hit by a pitch. Enloe singled to load the bases. Jake Smith then singled to score Phillips. Andy Hagedorn doubled to score Aldridge and Enloe.

Carlin Ballay picked up the victory for Monett, throwing five innings. Ballay allowed three hits and struck out nine.

The Cubs will be in action on Tuesday against Everton. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
