The Monett/Purdy Affiliate Habitat for Humanity, will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at the First Christian Church in Monett. The public is invited to attend.

Anna Arnaud will perform a music recital at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 at the Pierce City First Baptist Church.

Monett Special Road District will meet at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 9 in the conference room at Monett City Hall. The public is invited to attend.

The Tillers and Toilers Garden Club and Verona FFA will be hosting a plant and vegetable sale and bake sale from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 6 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the Verona High School Ag building.

The Barry County Youth Camp is in need of clothing donations for children ages 7-10. Donations can be taken to Bremer Machine Shop in Monett, located at Seventh and Broadway Streets.

The Monett High School speech and debate team will present its competitive readers production of "That Takes Ovaries" and the one-act play, "Honus and Me", at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 at the Monett Middle School. There is no cost, but donations for the national qualifiers will be accepted.

The Missouri Child Identification and Protection Program (MOCHIP) will be held at the Monett Masonic Lodge at 501 13th St. on May 7. MOCHIP is a comprehensive child identification and protection program designed to provide families with a proactive means of preparation if the child or teen is missing. The program is provided free. The Lawrence County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 at Jones Memorial in Mt. Vernon, located at 11110 Lawrence 1137. The society is preparing to reopen the museum for the 2011 season. Opening day is Sunday, May 29, and admission is free.

The Cassville Senior Center will host a dance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. Roaring River Sound Band will provide the entertainment. The cost for adults is $4. For more information, call 417-846-5355.

The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) will be holding the following blood drives: 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at the St. Mary's Catholic School in Pierce City; and 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at Yoder Farms in Verona.

The May meeting of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Barry-Lawrence Chapter #42 will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at Big Baldy's Bar-B-Q in Monett. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the business meeting to follow. Active federal employees, including those nearing the fifth year prior to retirement, and current retirees are invited.

The Purdy School District will be hosting a retirement reception at 3:20 p.m. on May 18 in the school cafeteria for staff members who are retiring. Honorees are Margaret Roller, Carol Swadley, Donna Patterson, Cathy Marshall, Luann Qualls and Kate Borushaski.
