The Monett Cubs baseball team fell 14-0 to Carl Junction in Big 8 action on Wednesday.

"For the last few weeks Coach Ty Goetz and I have been warning our guys about starting games too slow," said Monett Head Coach Michael Calhoun. "Today, it jumped up and bit us pretty hard. The best thing we can do is learn from it and move on with the rest of our season."

Carl Junction's Jack Luton and Nathan Skaggs each hit three-run home runs to supply instant offense for the Bulldogs.

Luton homered with two outs in the second to give Carl Junction a 4-0 lead. Skaggs' long bomb was part of a seven-run fourth inning that made it 14-0.

Monett falls to 13-6 (5-2) on the season.

The Cubs will be back in action today at Reeds Spring. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
