The Monett Cubs baseball team (13-5, 5-1) picked up a 3-0 win over the Seneca Indians Tuesday night.

The Cubs' sophomore southpaw pitching sensation Aaron Patton (5-1) picked up the victory. Patton pitched a complete game and allowed two hits and struck out two.

"Aaron got a lot of ground ball outs, " said Monett Head Coach Michael Calhoun. "He did a good job of staying within himself and throwing strikes."

Monett had single runs in the first, third and seventh innings.

In the first inning, Colten Phillips singled and scored on a Jake Smith single.

Monett's second run in the third came when Phillips singled and Marcus Enloe drove him in with a sacrifice fly.

Nicky Roberts doubled to lead off the seventh and scored on a Phillip's single.

"We are where we want to be," said Calhoun. "This is what we have worked all season to obtain."

Monett will be in action today against Carl Junction. The game will be a continuation of the rain-delayed contest that occurred two weeks ago.

"We will start in the top of the second with the score tied 0-0," said Calhoun. "The winner of this game is guaranteed a share of the conference championship."

The game is set to continue at 4:30 p.m.
