The Barry-Lawrence United Fund presented a check for $1,000 to the Monett Youth Center -- The Den. Ken Dudzik, president of the United Fund, presented the check to Kelley Cloud, a Monett Youth Center board member. Pictured above, from left, are: Dudzik; Cloud; Debbie Berger, another Monett Youth Center board member; and Mark Nelson, a long-time United Fund board member. "We are very pleased to be able to help fund The Den," said Dudzik. "The Den is truly a great addition to the Monett community as it provides a wholesome environment and positive activities for seventh through 12th graders from Monett and surrounding areas." Cloud said the money donated by the United Fund would be used to purchase new game equipment and help maintain the existing equipment. "The Monett Youth Center appreciates the Barry-Lawrence United Fund and their support of the center and our youth." The Den is located above Mocha Jo's at 404 E. Broadway. Dudzik also took the opportunity to thank local businesses and individuals for contributing to the United Fund. "We hope our next fund drive will allow us to recapture our previous level of support for necessary community activities, such as provided by The Den." [Times Photo by Lisa Schlichtman]
