A meeting to kick off the Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri (DREAM) Initiative in Monett will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 at the former Front Page store located at 319 East Broadway.
Keynote speaker will be Patrick Hanlon, project manager with PGAV, Inc., the planning firm under contract with the Missouri Development Finance Board to provide the DREAM planning components. Representatives from the Missouri Development Finance Board, the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the Missouri Housing Development Commission will also be in attendance.
"As a planning consultant for Missouri's DREAM Initiative, I look forward to working in Monett," said Hanlon. "We will work closely with city officials to identify the retail, cultural and historical potential of Monett's DREAM study area.
"The intent of this program is to add value to the local partnership of property owners, merchants and concerned citizens and build a solid foundation for the economic revitalization of the downtown areas," Hanlon explained.
The DREAM kick-off meeting is open to the public, and all public input is welcome.
Monett was one of five communities chosen for this innovative program.
The DREAM Initiative helps small and mid-sized Missouri communities access existing state assistance programs to help with downtown revitalization and job creation efforts. The DREAM Initiative allows communities to more efficiently and effectively engage in downtown redevelopment and revitalization as well as attract new private investment into the heart of their communities.
