St. Lawrence School students are ready for the annual school auction to be held on May 7 beginning at 5:30 pm. The auction will include handmade items from the students as well as local artists Ann Marie Rausch and Geri Carey. Pictured with school auction items, from left, are: Abby Apostol, first grade; Coy Butterworth, fifth grade; Lilly Schmidt, sixth grade; Christopher Simmons, third grade; Zachary Rosebaugh, fourth grade; Mason Turben, second grade; and Sadie Camp, kindergarten. Tickets to attend the St. Lawrence dinner, dance and auction are $40 per couple, and more information is available by calling the school office at 235-3721.
"School House Rocks" is the theme of the upcoming dinner, dance and auction fundraiser for St. Lawrence School in Monett on Saturday, May 7 at St. Lawrence Church's Parish Hall on Seventh Street.

The popular event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour followed by a delicious Italian meal prepared by Geraldi's in Cassville at 6 p.m. To showcase the theme, students have created life-size portraits of themselves as rock stars with musical instruments that will be used as decorations.

Another highlight of the evening will be a live auction featuring a series of handmade quilts created by each St. Lawrence class with the assistance of Kelly Verstraete and Al and Marion Dohmen. Other auction items include a lawn mover, a violin, a bench, a one night stay in Tunica, themed gift baskets and original artwork from local artists Geri Carey and Ann Marie Rausch. In addition to the quilts, students have also made blankets and aprons for the auction.

The evening will conclude with a dance from 8 to 11 p.m. featuring Tequila, Lime, No Salt, an acoustic trio offering a mix of country, rock and blues. The band is known for its hard-driving acoustic rhythms, impressive three-part harmonies and blues harmonica.

Tickets are $20 per person or $40 per couple, and all who attend the banquet will be entered in a drawing for a vacation experience. To obtain a ticket, call the school office at 235-3721.

This is the eighth year St. Lawrence School has hosted a fundraising dinner and dance. All proceeds benefit the students at St. Lawrence School.

The school, which currently serves 107 preschool to sixth grade students, is open to children of all faiths. The school's preschool program is being expanded to offer an extended day opportunity next year.

Enrollment for the 2011-12 school year is now being accepted. For more information, visit the school's website at www.stlawcs.com or call the St. Lawrence School office.
