David Steward, Monett High School principal, has announced that the senior honors assembly will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 16 in the high school commons. Recognition will be given to students who receive honors for scholarships from colleges, universities and local organizations.

The Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Post #91 of Monett will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3 at Monett South Park, across from the playground.

The seventh annual Cox Monett Hospital Auxiliary's salad luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at the first United Methodist Church in Monett. Tickets are $6 and carry-out containers are available. Recipe books will be for sale for $2. All proceeds will go toward the auxiliary's healthcare scholarship fund. The Tom Wolfe Memorial Post #4207 Ladies Auxiliary will host lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 at the Post home, located on Highway 60, west of Monett. The cost is $5. The menu will be pot roast, potatoes, carrots, salad, dessert, coffee or tea.

A spaghetti dinner, art show and auction will be held on May 5 at St. Mary's gymnasium in Pierce City. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the art auction and drawing at 7 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to12. Children under the age of 5 can attend for free.

Contestants are being sought for the Lawrence County youth fair queen pageant to be held on Sunday, May 22. The competition will begin at 3 p.m. and is open to ladies between the ages of 8 and 22. Applications must be submitted by May 8 and can be picked up at Norma's Inline Fashions in Aurora, the University of Missouri Extension office in Mt. Vernon or from Janella Spencer. The second annual Barry County livestock scholarship fund heifer auction will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 at the Cassville High School agriculture building. The Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N will hold its executive board meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at Alice Irene's Restaurant in Marionville. The meeting is open to the public.

Revival services will be held at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church, located southeast of Monett, at 7 p.m. May 2 through May 4. Pastor Jerry Nickle of the Gunter Methodist Church will be speaker.
