The Easter cantata entitled "The King Is Coming" by Russell Mauldin will be performed at the First Presbyterian Church of Monett, located at 700 Sycamore at 10:15 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 24. The choir is directed by Janis Neher. Narrator will be Brit Isbell, and soloist is Ted Norris. Pastor Walter Hamer will give a brief Easter message. The public is invited to attend.

A benefit dinner and auction will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 at the Aurora High School for Anita Newman, of Aurora, who has been diagnosed with colon cancer. She is the president of Great Southern Bank in Aurora. For more information, call 417-229-2188.

Benchmark Healthcare of Monett is hosting an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. The event is open to the family members of the residents. There will be prizes and drawings. The healthcare facility is located at 410 W. Benton.

Ozark Christian Writers Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church of Monett, located at Fourth and Dunn Streets, in the multi-purpose building. For more information, call Marty Frost at 235-7209.

A spaghetti dinner will be held at the Hobbs-Anderson American Legion Hall, located at 717 E. Broadway in Monett, from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 21. The menu will include spaghetti with salad, tea or water and dessert. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 12. Carryout is available. Proceeds will to toward Legion youth programs.

The Purdy R-2 School District will host a free luncheon for all senior citizens at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 in the school cafeteria. Purdy students will participate in part of the cooking, program design, serving, decorations and entertainment. Door prizes will be awarded. Reservations are requested but not required. Transportation will be available upon request. The menu will include: baked chicken, roast, potatoes, vegetables, hot rolls, dessert and drinks. The first Relay for Life softball tournament will be held on April 30 at the Aurora White Park softball fields. The field is limited to eight teams, and the cost is $150 per team. Monett Legion baseball tryouts will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 at Monett North Park. In case of rain, the tryouts will be rescheduled to 2 p.m. on May 7.

The Barry County Republican Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at Grant's Restaurant in Monett. The speaker will be Darren Chapel, former professor at Missouri State University. The public is invited to attend.
