The Cubs took first place ,shooting 317. Carl Junction was second with a 318 and Mt. Vernon finished third, recording a 319.
"The team title wasn't decided until the last group finished," said Monett Head Coach Derrek Uhl. "As we watched the scores go up on the board as the golfers came in, it got pretty intense."
Monett's Jacob Fair was the tournament medalist, shooting a one-under-par 69 and claiming first team All-Conference honors.
|Fair started the day with a 20-foot chip for birdie. The momentum from that shot propelled him through the rest of the day.||The second place individual finished six strokes behind Fair.|
Also participating for the Cubs were: Travis Thompson, who recorded a 78 and finished in sixth place. Devin Steward shot an 84 finishing in 12th. Thompson and Steward both were named second team All-Conference performers. Tyler Bass shot a season best 86 and Tyler Webb recorded a 98.
"I am very proud of these kids and how hard they have worked to improve their game," said Uhl. "They all worked hard last summer, and it really paid off for them. We came up short last year and know how it feels to be on the other end of a conference tournament loss. It was a team effort, and I was happy for Tyler Bass who played his best round of the year."
Monett will hit the links on Wednesday at Carthage. Matches are set to tee off at 9 a.m.
