Monett track finishes strong at Nixa meet

The Monett Cubs track team competed at the Nixa Invitational on Tuesday.

"We competed against six Class 4 Central Ozark Conference schools and held our ground," said Monett Head Coach Melanie Mayberry. "Our girls are hitting personal bests each meet due to their hard work, determination and a cranky coach. I feel very blessed to have girls that have a competitive spirit. That is extremely important in track and field."

Results for the Monett girls were as follows:

First place

* 100-meter high hurdles: Madison Carlin, 16.8.

* Shot: Jenny Frazier 34'.

Second place

* 800-meter: Raigan Ratliff, 2:31.

* 3,200-meter: Madeleine Weber, 13:36.

Third place

* 4x800 meter relay: Raigan Ratliff, Sophie Fulton, Madeleine Weber and Hannah Martin, 10:46.

* Long jump: Faith Schmidt, 13'9".

* Discus: Jenny Frazier, 90'4".

Monett boys

The Monett boys results were as follows:

Second place

* 3,200-meter: Chris Renteria, 10:13.

Third place

* 4x800 meter relay: Bill Townsend, Juan Renteria, Isaac Weber, Chris Renteria, 8:43.12.

The track team will be in action on Monday at Carl Junction. Events begin at 4:30 p.m.
