The Monett Cubs tennis team took fifth place out of the eight teams at the Thomas Jefferson Tournament on Friday.
"All of our boys have played at least 10 matches this past week," said Monett Head Coach Bob Crain. "There are a lot of blisters, sunburns and sore muscles. I am proud of the way they have continued to compete and work hard."
Joplin, Carthage, Webb City and Springfield Catholic finished in the top four at Thomas Jefferson.
Monett's Caleb McCurry won the consolation round in singles play.
Alex Hall and Shane George finished third in doubles play. Chris Trout and Abraham Mejia lost a heartbreaker to claim fourth place in doubles play.
The Cubs will be in action on Tuesday at Clever. Matches begin at 4:30 p.m.
