MHS golfers win Cassville tourney

The Monett Cubs golf team took first place in the 10- team field at the Cassville Golf Tournament on Thursday.

The Cubs as a team shot a 229. Cassville finished in second with 231.

"It was our second time playing at Cassville this season," said Monett Coach Derrek Uhl. "I thought we played well. Our younger players are gaining confidence, which will help going into our next couple tournaments."

Monett's Jacob Fair finished in first place on the par-72 course, shooting a two-over-par 74. Travis Thompson shot an 81, which was good for fourth place, and Devin Steward's 84 earned him eighth place. Tyler Bass finished with a 90, and Bryan Beckwith recorded a 103.

The Cubs will be in action on Monday at Bolivar. Player groups will begins teeing off at 9 a.m.
