Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 4/04/2011

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Receipts: 799 Last Week: 615 Last Year: 627

Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold 3.00-4.00 higher and
slaughter bulls sold 2.00-3.00 higher. Slaughter prices continue to push
the prices higher that producer must give to get ownership of bred cows,
as several sold by the head today ended up on the truck headed to
slaughter. There was a moderate supply of replacement cows and cow/calf
pairs. Supply was heavy and demand good for slaughter classes.
