Basketball standouts from Barry and Lawrence counties have been tapped to play in the Southwest Missouri All-Star basketball game to be played this Friday, April 1 at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center on the Missouri Southern State University campus in Joplin.
The game will feature 20 senior girls and 20 senior boys divided equally into two teams. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. followed immediately by the boys game. Players were selected by coaches in the southwest Missouri area.
|Local girls chosen for the honor include: Jenny Frazier, of Monett; Madison Carlin, of Monett; Kirstie Ickes, of Southwest; Audrey Patton, of Purdy; Destani Stensrud, of Exeter; Brooke Swadley, of Purdy; Shelby White, of Purdy; Kaitlin Johnson, of Miller; and Kenzie Williams, of Mt. Vernon.|
Boys selected for the game include: Robert Baldwin, of Pierce City; Derek Turner, of Pierce City; Justin Jack, of Jakob Beck, of Wheaton; Axl Larson, of Cassville; and Austin Rettman, of Southwest.
The game is an inaugural event sponsored by KSEK The Ticket 99.1 ESPN Radio, KODE and KSN in Joplin. A 3-point shooting contest and a slam dunk contest will also be part of the festivities.
Cost of admission to the event is $5.
