Whenever the Monett Lady Cubs basketball team found itself in a pinch and needed a big bucket the girls turned to their first team All-Conference forward Hunter Glouse.
Glouse, a junior, recorded her 1,000th career point during the 2010-11 season. Glouse was happy when she finally reached the milestone.
"It was one of my goals when I started playing," said Glouse. "I have always enjoyed playing basketball and competing as hard as I can."
"Hunter is a true competitor," said Monett Head Coach Derrek Uhl. "She works hard each and every time she takes the floor. Hunter is a team-oriented player in the fact that she puts the needs of the team above her own. Many times she could have taken a shot but passed it up to an open teammate."
Given a choice between shooting an open 3-pointer or driving the lane for a contest layup, Glouse said it was an easy choice.
"Layup, without question," said Glouse. "I like drawing contact and getting to the free-throw line."
Glouse said she would like to continue her playing career upon graduation.
"My top three choices are SBU, Evangel and Drury," said Glouse. "As long as I can play somewhere."
