Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 3/18/11
Thursday, March 17, 2011
Another dose of winter came to central MO this week as several inches of snow came and quickly went. Most all the rest of the state received several inches of currently unwanted rain. Farmers would like to be spreading fertilizer but crop fields, hay fields, and even the most rocky hill side pastures in the state are way too soft to get over with a spreader. Mud has made for difficulties with delivering load of hay. Producers especially in the southern part of the state are now count down the few days left before green grass and eager to call the feeding season of 2010 done. Hay prices this week are mostly steady. Supply and demand of hay is moderate. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
