The Barry-Lawrence Ambulance Board voted at its February meeting to pay off its building 10 years early.
The $180,000 expenditure put property tax revenue from the two counties to use and eliminated the building payment due in 2011. According to Office Manager Jeaneittia Pierce, board members decided not to purchase any new vehicles this year, a cost savings of approximately $120,000. The district has in recent years purchased two rigs at a time.
