On Sunday, the Monett Athletic Booster Club presented a check for $13,000 to Monett High School Athletic Director Daryl Bradley.

"We want to thank our booster club patrons and our community for their continued support," said Dennis Childress booster club president, "Without their support, none of this is possible. They have made this a great year."

The booster club is comprised of 50 club members, 20 corporate sponsors, 18 board members and 10 student helpers. Its goal is to support all high school athletic programs by providing monetary support, volunteer support and seeks to promote team spirit.

In addition to membership dues, the club raised money in a variety of avenues: holding carwashes, collecting tips for pumping gas, various raffles, dinners and providing concessions at sporting events.

"This means a lot to the athletic program," said Bradley. "What you don't see is all the hard work, planning, meetings and preparation that the booster club members put into this organization. Without their support we would not be able to provide new uniforms, wrestling mats and many other things for our athletic programs."

The proceeds raised through 2010-11 will be used to purchase new uniforms for the football, soccer, cross country and tennis teams.

"We know that we are making a difference for the local youth," said Childress. "Everything we do and all the funds we collect goes right back into our schools. It makes all the hard work worth the effort."

The booster club is currently looking for board members. If you are interested, please contact Darren Bass or Dennis Childress.
