The Verona Lady Wildcats fell 65-59 to Chadwick in the Missouri Class 1, District 4 semi-finals Thursday night.

"We got beat by a good team," said Verona Head Coach Ryan Yates. "It's hard to beat any team twice in one season. Chadwick had a great game plan and they executed."

The Lady Wildcats raced out to a 9-2 lead in the game's fist two-and-a-half. Chadwick responded with a 9-0 run to lead 11-9 at the end of the first quarter. In the second period, the Lady Cardinals expanded their lead using a 16-2 run to lead 35-25 at halftime.

Verona stormed back in the second half outscoring Chadwick 15-10 in the third period to trail 40-35 heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Wildcats closed the gap to four points on two occasions in the final period, but the Lady Cardinals hit 14 of 15 free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory.

"We wish Chadwick all the best as they continue their season," said Yates. "We need to work on becoming a deeper team in the offseason."

Jenna Chadd led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 24 points. Also scoring for Verona were: Tristan Carrasquillo, 23 points; Jessica Smith, 8 points; and Taylor Pinkly and Amanda Mullen, 2 points each.
