Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 3/04/11
Thursday, March 3, 2011
MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
With only a month or so left of feeding cattle farmers are keeping close
count on how many bales of hay they still own. There have been scattered
peaks of high interest as some are finding they are going to need a few
more tons before grass arrives. High fuel and fertilizer cost will have
farmers returning to the situation of a couple years ago deciding how
much or how little fertilizer they can get by with on pastures and hay
fields this year. Hay prices this week are mostly steady. Supply and
demand of hay is moderate. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay
directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a
directory, visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ or for current
