tures around 23 degrees greeted fishing fans who gathered in the valley at Roaring River State Park yesterday for the opening of trout season. A generally light breeze was enough to keep fingers cold and instill a sense of determination among those gathered for the big event.
Temperatures impacted the early turnout. The sale of fishing tags by the gunshot to start fishing at 6:30 a.m. was around 1,200 for adults and 250 for children. On the last Tuesday opening in 2005, temperatures had also been in the low 20s. Tag sales numbered 1,292 for adults and 252 for children.
