Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 2/28/2011

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Receipts: 538 Last Week: 778 Last Year: 838

Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold 3.00-5.00
lower. As usual when more cows come to market than the slaughter buyers need
to stay current with their demand, prices move lower and with the combination
favorable weather conditions and the attraction of higher prices we have de-
finitely had larger receipts the past couple weeks. Cull dairy cows continue
to make up a large portion of the slaughter offering. The supply of bred cows
was moderate but cow/calf pairs were scarce. Supply and demand were moderate
for slaughter classes.
