Fred C. Roetto, age 91, of Monett, MO, passed from this life on Thursday morning, February 24, 2011, while at Cox Monett Hospital following a short illness.
Fred was born on June 2, 1919 in Monett, the son of the late Frank Roetto and Catherine (Witt) Roetto. He had attended St. Mary's School in Walnut Grove and had lived in this area his whole life. During World War II, he served his country honorably in the Army.
Fred was a truck driver for Kay Concrete, retiring in 1981. He had also worked for Roetto Tire and Friend Tire. He was also a farmer. Fred was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett.
On July 19, 1967, in Monett, Fred and Alwilda Belt were united in marriage. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2007. Also preceding him in death was a son, Francis Lee Roetto; three brothers, Richard, David and Loren Roetto; and two sisters, Ruth Gripka and Kay Burger.
Survivors include three sons, John Roetto, of Springfield, MO, Gary Roetto, of Monett and Ronald Roetto, of Monett; three daughters, Jean Meyer, of Joplin, MO, Susan Frazier and husband Stephen, of Rolla, MO and Shari Hood and husband David, of Rogersville, MO; three sisters, Dorothy Brown, of Monett, Virginia Fox, of Neosho, MO and Loretta Schweiger, of Chicago, IL; eighteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel with Father Peter Morciniec officiating. Interment and military honors will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Pierce City, MO.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with Rosary to begin at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
