Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 2/18/11
Thursday, February 17, 2011
MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
What a turnaround this week has been compared to several of the most
recent weeks. Above average temperatures have managed to bring mud and
melt much of the near record snow several areas of the state had. The
glimpse of a new growing season has put a smile on faces of man and beast
that have endured a long hard winter and although not likely over yet the
light can be seen. Several sellers and truckers got back on the roads
trying to get hay delivered to those customers most in need. With the
warmer weather many famers will if they haven’t already start counting
bales and checking the days on the calendar trying to balance supply with
feeding demand for the rest of this season. Hay prices this week are
mostly steady. Supply and demand of hay is moderate. Missouri Department
of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers.
