Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 2/14/2011

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Receipts: 327 Last Week: 144 Last Year: 482

Compared to last Monday, breaking and boning slaughter cows sold 3.00-4.00
higher while lean cows and slaughter bulls sold 2.00-3.00 higher. A high per-
cent of the slaughter cow offering was cull dairy cows. The supply of bred
cows and cow/calf pairs was very light. Following two weeks of heavy snow and
extreme cold across the area, warmer temperatures are beginning to melt the
snow but the ice and slush still make it difficult for producers to get cattle
off their farms to the cleared roads. Supply was light to moderate and demand
very good or slaughter classes.
