Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 1/28/11

Thursday, January 27, 2011

The majority of the state still in winter mode, although the area south
of I-44 has had temperatures warm enough to melt the snow, while those
to the north still with lots of snow on the ground. Hay movement has been
slow this week as most roads that are not paved are slick, making delivery
difficult. On a positive note, the cold and snow have kept producers phones
ringing as it appears that some cattlemen may not have as much hay in the
pile as they originally thought. Hay prices this week are mostly steady. Supply
and demand is moderate. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory
available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory,
