The battle over Proposition B heated up this week as opponents of the measure pressed lawmakers returning to Jefferson City to vote the proposition off the books. At the same time proponents are asking lawmakers to give the new measure a chance to work.
Joe Overlease, from Miller, has been one of the vocal figures in the debate. Overlease is the president of the Professional Kennel Club of Missouri and a member of the Missouri Pet Breeders Association, the largest dog breeders organization. Overlease views animal breeding like any other agriculture-based farm business.
