The Purdy Eagles picked up a 52-46 win over the Pierce City Eagles Friday night.
"I was proud of the way our team battled," said Pierce City Head Coach Matt Street. "Purdy is a very quick and talented team. I thought we played well enough to win. Credit Purdy with making plays when they had to."
Purdy jumped out to a 13-8 first quarter lead; however, Pierce City would storm back in the second period, outscoring Purdy 16-11 in the frame to knott the score at 24 at the break.
"We had a couple of possessions in the second half where we came up empty and Purdy was able to capitalize," said Street. "Those empty trips proved to be the difference in the game."
Landon Terry led Purdy in scoring with 24 points. Devon Bennett chipped in 11 points. Drew Williams finished with 7 points. Cody Hall pitched in 6 points, and T.J. Farris tallied 4 points.
Pierce City's leading scorer was Robert Baldwin with 18 points. Chance Chapman helped out with 13 points. Derek turned notched 9 points. Wayne Joe Sooter and Cedric O'Hara finished with 3 points apiece.
