Edward Sloan Grigg passed away on Nov. 15, 2010 in Atlanta, Ga. He was 76 years old. Mr. Grigg was born on June 10, 1934 in Coffeyville, Kan. to Thelma V. Sloan Grigg and Edward W. Grigg. Edward S. Grigg resided in a nursing home near his niece, Susan G. Tiz--n, since early 2007.
Edward was much loved by the nursing home staff for his friendly and gracious manners. Prior to Atlanta, Mr. Grigg resided in Lawrence, Kan. for many years where he was active in his church, participated in many civic organizations for the preservation of historical sites and offering comfort to the elderly, sick and poor. Edward also became an oblate at St. Benedict's Abbey in Atchison, Kan.
Edward loved classical music and nature. He had a large music collection and could easily name the composer of a selection on the radio.
Mr. Grigg was highly intelligent and possessed multiple graduate degrees including an M.B.A. and an M.S. in rural sociology from University of Missouri, in 1967 and 1969, respectively. Edward received an honorable discharge from the army in 1968 as a 1st lieutenant.
Edward Sloan Grigg is survived by his brother-in-law, Raymond G. Jacobsmeyer, of Atlanta, and his nieces, Susan G. Tiz--n, of Atlanta and Gwynne A. Carosella, of Houston.
The family intends to hold services next summer in Greenfield, Missouri where Edward Grigg will be buried next to his parents.
