New Year's parties, concerts offered for entertainment Dec. 31-Jan. 6

This week in Monett: Denali Dreams at 318 E. Broadway closes at 5 p.m. on Friday for a private party and is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. only on Saturday.

Mocha Jo's, 404 E. Broadway, will close at 3 p.m. on Friday for the weekend.

This week in Springfield: The annual First Night celebration to bring in the new year will be held Friday. At the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East, beginning at 6 p.m. will be the Skinny Improv, Chris Sligh, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin and Berch. At the Landers Theatre, 315 E. Walnut, beginning at 7 p.m. will be Young Artists and Youth Players and YES Troupe. At the Skinny Improv Theatre, 301 Park Central East, beginning at 6 p.m. will be Arzo Tureaud and Voices of Deliverance. At Canvas, 315 South Ave., beginning at 6:30 p.m. will be the Japanese America Friendship Group, Kellswater and SuperCharge. At the downtown YMCA, 417 S. Jefferson, hands-on activities start at 5:30 p.m. with Native American dance and Grupo Latino Americano dancers for the rest of the evening. The Park Central Library branch, 128 Park Central Square, beginning at 6 p.m. will have Lowdown Fancy and the New Monsters Collective. The 1984 Arcade, across from the YMCA, will have gaming beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Discovery Center, 438 E. St. Louis, will have interactive activities beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 Friday night or $30 for a family four-pack.

A New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball will be held Friday at the Savoy, 224 E. Commercial, beginning at 7 p.m. with an optional dinner.

Remington's, 1655 W. Republic Road, has a New Year's event for singles on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m.

At the Outland Ballroom, 326 South Ave., a New Year's party is planned on Friday. The Wonder Years performs on Jan. 4.

At the Rock House, 41 High St. in Reeds Spring, a New Year's party with open mike begins at 7 p.m. on Friday.

A touring production of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" will be offered at 7 p.m. on Jan. 5 at the Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $24.

This week in northwest Ark.: At George's Majestic Lounge, 519 W. Dickson in Fayetteville, performing this week are the Cate Brothers, RJ Mischo and Benjamin Del Shreve on Friday.

At the Rogers Little Theater, 116 S. 2nd St., Native American musician John Two-Hawks offers his New Year's eve concert at 7 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $10 and $20.

Hopp'n John's New Year's celebration is Friday and Saturday at the War Eagle park, east of Rogers.

The Eureka Springs Ballroom Blitz is Friday at the Basin Park Hotel ballroom.

This week in Joplin: A New Year's eve lockdown party for young people is planned at Lazer Force Lazer Tag Zone, 408 S. Northpark Lane, from 11 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $27.

A lock-in for high school teens is planned at the Bridge, 3405 S. Hammons Blvd., from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $25.

In Carthage, the Stone's Throw Theatre offers "Sťance at the Stone's Throw," an audience participation mystery, at 9 p.m. on Friday. Cost is $22. Reservations for limited seating can be made by calling 417-358-9665.

At the Downstream Casino, west of Joplin, Red River Junction and Sequel Dose perform Friday. The Dropouts play on Saturday.

This week in Miami, Okla.: A New Year's party is planned Friday at the Buffalo Run Casino.

This week in Tulsa, Okla.: This week at Cain's Ballroom, 423 N. Main, will be the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey playing the music of Beyonce, Madonna and Lady Gaga on Friday. The Band Perry performs on Jan. 6 with the Kristin Nicole Band.

At ExpoSquare, 4145 E. 21st St., Drysdale's Tulsa Holiday Winter Circuit horseriding skills show runs Friday and Saturday in the livestock complex. The 2011 Tulsa Shootout midget car racing event is Friday and Saturday in the QuikTrip Center.

At the Hard Rock Casino, 770 W. 70th St. in Catoosa, Scott Ellison and Duence Eleven perform on Friday.

This week in Pittsburg, Kan.: A dinner/dance "Night to Remember" is slated for Friday at the Mirza Shrine Center, 110 W. Fifth St. Dinner is at 7 p.m. and dancing starts at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $25.

This week in Kansas City: On Friday, the Republic Tigers play at the Beaumont Club, 4050 Pennsylvania. The Uptown Theater, 3700 Broadway, has its third annual New Year's Eve Extravaganza with Allied Saints, Brother Bagman and three DJ providing music. At the Kansas City Convention Center, 13th and Central, a New Year's eve celebration with buffet dinner, casino tables and live music featuring Atlantic Express begins at 7 p.m. Jazz saxophonist Bobby Watson plays for the New Year's concert at the Gem Theater at the American Jazz Museum, 1615 E. 18th St.

"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day: the Musical" runs through Dec. 31 at the Coterie Theatre, Grand and Pershing in Crown Center.

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" will be presented at 7 p.m. on Sunday and 2 and 7 p.m. on Jan. 2 by the Music Theatre for Young People at the University of Missouri at White Hall, 4949 Cherry. Tickets are $15.

Naomi Wallace's play "One Flea Spare" opens Jan. 6 for a three-weekend run by the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, 3614 Main.

This week in St. Louis: On Friday, a First Night celebration is planned in the theater district at Grand and Lindell with opera singer Neal Boyd, the 2008 America's Got Talent winner, storytellers, dancers, magicians and actors, beginning at 6 p.m. . The St. Louis Symphony with music director David Robertson offers a concert at 7:30 p.m. at Powell Hall, Grand and Delmar. Gateway Arch Riverboats offer a Mississippi cruise from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. A New Year's party featuring dance band Dr. Zhivegas will be held at 8 p.m. at the Family Arena in St. Charles.

American Idol winner Fantasia performs at 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Fox Theatre, 527 N. Grand. Tickets are $29.50 to $59.50.

The Black Repertory Theater presents Shakespeare's "Pericles" from Jan. 5 to 30 at the Grandel Theatre, across from Powell Hall on Grand.

Walter Mosley's novel "The Fall of Heaven" adapted for the stage is presented by Repertory Theatre of St. Louis at the Loretto Hilton Center on the Webster University campus from Jan. 5 to 30.

Gilbert and Sullivan's "HMS Pinafore" will be performed at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Sheldon Concert Hall, 3648 Washington Blvd.

The Twelfth Night of Christmas Mardi Gras will include musical processions and fireworks on Jan. 6 in the Soulard district.

At the Pageant, 6161 Delmar, performing are the Yonder Mountain String Band on Friday.
