"They are what has made this [program] what it is today."
Santa's elves at the Barry County Sheriff's Department have had a busy holiday season, readying donated toys for distribution to the children of families in need throughout the county.

Citizens, civic organizations and businesses have generously donated over 600 gift items to accommodate 110 children from 13 families in Barry County. This is the campaign's fourth year.

"I think that this has been the biggest year for the Angel Tree despite the economy," said Sheriff Mick Epperly. "My hat is off to those who donated."

Recipients are checked to make sure they are not also participating in the Share Your Christmas program, which covers children primarily from the Cassville area.

The Sheriff's Department has also put together meals for two families this year, which will be delivered just before Christmas.

"Our citizens are very generous to help those in need," Epperly said. "They are what has made this [program] what it is today."
