Cox Monett Hospital sponsored a gingerbread house contest among its departments last week. Each department was given the shell of the gingerbread house as a foundation and tasked with creating a gingerbread house with candy, frosting and other items of their choosing.
The Environmental Services Department won first place with its snow-covered log cabin, complete with chimney, woodpile and twig trees. The entries were judged by three outside judges on theme, creativity, difficulty, precision and overall appearance.
"We have very talented and creative employees," said Janell Patton, Cox Monett Hospital's director of community relations and volunteer services. "We're not only great at taking care of patients, but we're excellent at gingerbread making too."
