PC eighth grade girls to play for title

The Pierce City Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls basketball squad is enjoying a fine season. The Lady Eagles have compiled a 13-1 record this season, won the Ash Grove Tournament and will compete Tuesday Dec. 21 for the championship of the Spring River Valley Conference tournament against Jasper in Pierce City.

The Lady Eagles are 13-0 against conference opponents that include Lockwood, Liberal, Jasper, Miller, Greenfield, College Heights, Golden City, Diamond and Sarcoxie. Pierce City averaged 51.6 points per game during the Greenfield Tournament.

"This team has been sparked by rapid scoring and good defense," said Pierce City Head Coach Joey Graves. "We have been working to build an unselfish teamwork ethic that has led to many wins. A key nonconference win was defeating Ash Grove in the Greenfield
