Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 12/15/10

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Receipts: 1400 Last Week: 1781 Last Year: 1578

Compared to last Wednesday, after opening steady to 2.00 lower slaughter
cows closed fully steady and slaughter bulls sold 1.00-2.00 lower. The offer-
ing included a heavy supply of bred cows but cow/calf pairs were light. Demand
was very good for bred cows as several producers indicated they had plenty of
forage they needed to market and some wanted to make purchases before the end
of the year. Supply was heavy and demand good for slaughter classes. NOTE:
There will be a cow and bull sale following the feeder cattle auction December
20th but no cow and bull auction December 22nd. The cow and bull auction will
resume itís regular schedule January 5th 2011.
