The Dacy Foundation now has its 2010 Christmas ornament, featuring the Frisco caboose, on sale at First State Bank and City Hall in Pierce City. Cost of the ornament, the eighth in the series, is $6.

The fundraiser, a long-term project highlighting historic Pierce City landmarks, started following the 2003 tornado that devastated much of the downtown area. Project originators, Melonie and the late Chuck Roberts, designed the first two ornaments in the series, which featured the historic bandstand and St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Subsequent ornaments have been designed by local graphic designer Richard Reed, of Pierce City. They have included the historic National Guard Armory, the train depot, the Harold Bell Wright Museum, the 1922 Pierce City High School and the historic Baptist Church on Elm Street.

Funds from ornament sales have benefitted a number of Dacy Foundation charities, including the organization's annual Christmas project, food drives and the Dacy Scholarship Fund at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. Board members are also hoping to establish a scholarship for graduating seniors at Pierce City High School.
