The Purdy Eagles basketball team defeated the McAuley Warriors 74-44 Tuesday night in Joplin.
Purdy jumped out to a 30-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 51-27 at halftime.
"We played real well tonight," said Purdy Head Coach Tommy Egan. "We made 10 3-pointers as a team and did a good job sharing the ball. If we can continue to shoot the ball as well as we have, we have a chance of having a real successful season."
Landon Terry paced the Eagles' scoring with 20 points. Devon Bennett poured in 14 points. Kevin Miller added 13 points. Garen Nelson chipped in 10 points. Drew Willams finished with 5 points. Cody Hall scored 6 points. Alex Haworth had 4 points. T.J. Farris contributed 2 points.
The Eagles travel to East Newton on Friday.
The Purdy Lady Eagles basketball team rolled to an 81-6 win over the McAuley Lady Warriors Tuesday night in Joplin.
The Lady Eagles allowed only one McAuley field goal.
"It's always good to get a conference win," said Purdy Head Coach Grant Young. "We were able to get all 12 of our varsity players in the game. Defensively, we were focused and frustrated McAuley all night."
Lady Eagles' Addy Roller led the way, scoring 21 points. Shelby White poured in 20 points. Brooke Swadley chipped in 13 points. Brittany Mareth and Mattie White each splashed home 8 points. Audrey Patton finished with 9 points. Rachel Neill scored 2 points.
The Lady Eagles will be in action tonight at 7:30 p.m. against Rogers, Ark., in the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs Classic at Springfield.
