Enjoy a downtown Christmas

Thursday, December 9, 2010

The Christmas spirit will be in full display on Friday for Broadway Nights in downtown Monett. The sound of Christmas music will be in the air from carolers and other performers.

Caroling is open to everyone and all ages. Singers are invited to gather at 6 p.m. at Mocha Jo's at 404 E. Broadway and then proceed to share the favorite holiday melodies along Broadway.

With Broadway Nights falling in the middle of the Christmas shopping season, many stores will be open late with special offerings and sales.

Shaun Bennett, one of the Broadway Nights organizers, said a special feature will include a stocking filled with goodies from downtown stores. The stocking will be given away in a drawing at 8 p.m. Shoppers can sign up one time for a chance to win. Boxes where people can register for their chance to win the stocking will be located in all the businesses open for Broadway Nights.

Photos with Santa Claus will be available, and Mrs. Claus will be telling stories to the children at Fashion Crossroads. Several stores will offer refreshments.

Live music will include Andy Goodson performing holiday music and pop songs at Denali Dreams. Amy Sampson and Kristy Berger will provide live music at Mocha Jo's, beginning at 7 p.m.

Shoppers are encouraged to visit downtown Friday.
