Pierce City splits openers

The Pierce City Eagles basketball team rolled in it's season opener 67-13 Monday night against the Sarcoxie junior varsity team. The Eagles led 55-12 at halftime and held the JV Bears to one second half point.

Statistically, Pierce City was led by Robert Baldwin who finished the game with 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Wayne Joe Sooter added 17 points, 7 steals, 6 assists and 3 rebounds. Derek Turner chipped in 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Cedric O'Hara poured in 8 points, 5 steals, 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Cody Fitchpatrick scored 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Ian Brottlund added 2 points and 4 assists, and Caleb Laswell contributed 2 points and 2 rebounds.

The Eagles continue play in the Pierce City Tournament Thursday night against Thomas Jefferson at 6 p.m.

Pierce City Lady Eagles

The Pierce City Lady Eagles fell 55-36 to the Crane Lady Pirates Tuesday night in the Ash Grove Tournament.

The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Krishna Merriman's 15 points. Kaelyn Osburn chipped in 7 points. Christiane Younker and Megan Golubski each had 6 points. Mattie Parrigon added 2 points.

The Lady Eagles will take on Lamar Friday night in Ash Grove at 6 p.m.
