Harry Hubert Bickford, age 91, of Purdy, MO, passed away at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO on Wednesday Nov. 17, 2010 after a short illness.
Harry was born the second of 12 children on April 4, 1919 in Bartlesville, OK the son of John R. and Gladis E. (Barnes) Bickford. Harry was united in marriage to Rozella Taylor on Oct. 25, 1941 in Cassville, MO. She preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2002. During his life, he worked as a custodian at the Stockton Unified School District, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville, and enjoyed woodworking.
Harry is survived by three sons: Carl Bickford and wife, Karen; James Bickford and wife, Goldie; and Michael Bickford and wife, Diane, all of Purdy; three daughters: Louise Pavone, and husband, Phil, of Oakdale, CA; Judy Chambers and husband, Dean, of Comanche, OK, and Tena Gunn, of Stockton, CA; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; four brothers: Donald Bickford, of Puyallup, WA; Gene Bickford, of Galena, KS; Warren Bickford, of Puyallup, CA; and Kenneth Bickford, of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters: Ruby Gaidies, of Puyallup, CA; Emily Burr, of Costa Rica; and Mildred Denney, of Stockton, CA.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Wilbert and Jack Bickford and two sisters, Wilma and Patricia.
Funeral services for Mr. Bickford will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at the Blessing Heights Worship Center in Cassville, MO, with Rev. Jack Freeman officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Butterfield, MO.
