Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 11/19/10

Thursday, November 18, 2010

As the holidays draw near it seems the shopping season has began as
several farmers are making inquires and pricing hay. A volatile grain
market has feed cost soaring for many smaller farmers who arenít able to
lock in a contract price and buy a pick-up bed full of bagged feed once
or twice a month. Corn prices above 5.00 in many areas and lack of high
quality hay has many hoping for a very mild feeding season. State wide
hay supply is moderate, currently demand is light, and hay prices are
steady. Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available
for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory, visit
http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ or for current listings of hay
