Home invasion leads to Crime Stopper request

Monday, November 15, 2010

A drive-by shooting and an armed home invasion in Barry County have prompted area law enforcement agencies to seek help from the public.

Both the Barry County Sheriff's Department and the Barry-Lawrence Crime Stoppers are asking for assistance in solving the two crimes that occurred on Nov. 1 in the Golden and Eagle Rock areas.

On Monday, Nov. 1, two men went to a home in Eagle Rock at approximately 8:30 p.m. The suspects knocked on the door, and when the homeowner opened it, one of the men, who was wielding a gun, forced the resident to the ground. The men then burglarized the home, taking jewelry and a handgun. The homeowner was not injured during the crime.

Later the same evening, a drive-by shooting was reported in the Golden area between the hours of 10 and 11:30 p.m.

According to police reports, suspects shot at a residence, left the area and then returned to the residence two more times during a 30-minute period. Each time, they came back to the house they fired shots.

At the time of the drive-by shootings, the home was occupied and at least three bullets entered the residence through a window. No one was injured during the incident.

Anyone who has information about either of these crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-635-TIPS (8477 or 354-TIPS.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or filing of charges in felony cases.
