Mr. Doyle Ervin Bowman, age 85, of Purdy, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at St. John's in Springfield. He was born on July 14, 1925 to Siegle and Pearl (Potter) Bowman in Purdy, Mo. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Smith on Feb. 15, 1947 in Columbus, Kan. and she survives.
Doyle held the position as the principal of Purdy Elementary School. He spent 35 years as a teacher and principal. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was a member and deacon of the Arnhart Baptist Church of Purdy and served as choir director for the church. He also served as caretaker for the Arnhart Cemetery.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Bowman, along with two sons: Larry and Danny both of Purdy; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo. Services will be held at the Arnhart Baptist Church of Purdy at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14 with Rev. John Duncan officiating.
