The Monett Middle School Lady Cubs seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams fell to Aurora Monday night 31-14 and 34-11 respectively.
"Monday night was our home opener," said Seventh Grade Coach Joni Reed. "The atmosphere was loud and contagious."
Katie Tinklepaugh led the seventh graders in scoring with 5 points. Aubrey Parker added 3. Grace Cloud poured in another 5 points and Lauren Bass added 1.
"Our girls are getting better," said Reed. "We are looking for consistency. once we figure some things out, the results will be more favorable."
"The girls did a great job in the first half," said Eighth Grade Head Coach Amy Sampson. "We played great defense, moved the ball well on offense and showed great hustle. However, we went cold midway through the third quarter. Aurora has a solid club, and they took advantage. This game was a learning experience, and there are great thing to come for this team."
Abby Krueger's 4 points led the eighth grade Lady Cubs. Haylee Morris added 3 points. Brooke Burnside and Brooke McLean each chipped in 2.
The MMS girls will be in action tonight in Cassville.
