The City of Verona will not be hosting this year's Christmas Parade.
Council members made the decision following discussion concerning liability issues connected with the annual event. The Verona Lions Club hosted the parade in previous years however, the club is no longer active.
Aldermen would welcome another civic organization to take over duties associated with the parade and the potential liabilities.
Aldermen also spoke with Jerald Norton, from Tri-State Engineering, concerning the preliminary engineering report for the city's storm water project.
Norton will walk around the town with council members to determine priority issues.
Aldermen have also reviewed specific sections of the city code, including public amusements, offenses, political sign regulations, procurement and board of adjustments.
The revised city code will be approved at a future council meeting.
