Mrs. Gwendolyn Henderson Phelps, age 92, of Purdy, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett. She was born on August 3, 1918 in Purdy, MO to Elzy and Florance (Wormington) Henderson. She united in marriage to Gladden Miller on May 2, 1936 and then later married William Phelps on January 14, 1961. William preceded her in death on November 18, 2002.
Gwendolyn retired from the shoe factory and was a member of the Arnhart Baptist Church of Purdy.
She is survived by one son: Carl and wife, Pam, Miller, of Monett; three daughters: Betty and husband, Gene Francisco, Peggy and husband, Bill Roller, Patsy Marbut, all of Purdy; one brother: Morris and wife, Rena Henderson, of Monett; ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, along with two brothers: Aubrey and Billy Gene Henderson; two sisters: Ava Boyd and Lois Cole; and one grandson, Christy Lee Marbut.
Services were held at Arnhart Baptist Church in Purdy, MO, on Sunday Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010. Burial was at Arnhart Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Williams officiating.
