Ten hurt in weekend vehicle crashes

Four people from Mt. Vernon were hurt in a single vehicle crash at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Garrett Richardson, 18, of Mt. Vernon, was driving north on Farm Road 1040 three miles northwest of Stotts City. Richardson's 2001 Pontiac traveled off the left side of the roadway. Richardson over-corrected, traveling off the right side of the road, where the car overturned.

Two of the three passengers were not wearing seat belts and were ejected. Cory Haumann, 21, and Hannah Revis, 18, both received serious injuries and were taken to St. John's Hospital-Springfield for treatment. Richardson and passenger Greg Owens, 19, both of whom were wearing seat belts, received minor injuries. Owens was taken by ambulance to St. John's Hospital-Springfield for treatment. Richardson was taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle.

Other crash reports

* A Pierce City woman was hurt in a single vehicle crash as 12:15 p.m. on Sunday. Shelby Danley, 17, was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Johanna White, 16, of Wentworth. White was driving south on Farm Road 1070, four mile south of Stotts City, when the driver lost control. The car ran into a ditch and overturned. Both White and Danley received moderate injuries. Danley was taken to Cox Monett Hospital for treatment. White was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Both were wearing their seat belts.

* A Shell Knob woman and two girls were hurt in a single vehicle crash at 9:10 a.m. on Saturday in Stone County. The Highway Patrol reported Valentina Marlowe, 28, was driving east in a 1997 Dodge Ram on Stallion Bluff Road when she lost control of the pickup on a curve. The Ram ran off the road and overturned.

Marlowe received minor injuries, as did Hunter Sparks, 9, and Christina Marlowe, 7. All three were wearing seat belts. They were taken by ambulance to St. John's Hospital-Berryville for treatment.

* A Carthage woman received serious injuries in a single vehicle crash at 4:55 p.m. on Friday on Interstate 44, one-half mile west of Mt. Vernon. Cleta McNary, 51, was driving west in a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. The Highway Patrol reported McNary was driving too fast for conditions, lost control and overturned in the median. McNary, who was wearing her safety belt, was taken to Freeman Hospital West for treatment.
