The Monett Lady Cubs' volleyball season came to an end Wednesday night as the squad fell 25-10, 25-8 to Carl Junction in the Class 3 District 11 semi-finals.
"Carl Junction is a great team," said Monett Head Coach Shyrah Perry. "We came out a little flat, and the Lady Bulldogs took advantage of the situation."
Monett's Hunter Glouse had four blocks, and Maddie Schmidt had six digs for the Lady Cubs.
"We had a good season," said Perry. "We got better as the season progressed. We have a solid core of juniors returning and a lot of potential to become a great team."
Monett loses three seniors off a team that finished 16-17-1 on the 2010 season, which is a four-game improvement over last year's record.
"Next year will be my third year with these girls," added Perry. "Although we didn't achieve all our goals this year, we are showing signs of heading in the right direction. I have enjoyed being this team's coach. The girls worked hard in practice every day and never gave up on each other.
"Hard work and focus will be needed in the off-season," said Perry. "I will definitely have high expectations for our girls heading into next season."
