Mrs. Lois "Jean" Jordan, age 75, of Monett, passed from this time with us on Oct. 27, 2010. She was born in Pontotoc County, Okla. on July 13, 1935 to George and Cora Bain.
After graduating from East Central College she was hired by the Bakersfield, California School District where she began her teaching career. She met the love of her life, Max Jordan, and they married on Nov. 8, 1958. They were married for 39 years.
Jean taught in the Monett School District for 31 years and was a life-long advocate for special needs children and the Special Olympics.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max on Dec. 11, 1997; two brothers: LeRoy Bain and GW Bain; one sister: Peggy Bain Young; one brother-in-law: Grady Gary and a nephew: Bubba Young
Jean is survived by a daughter: Cheryl, and husband, John Thornton, of Aurora, MO; a son: Ron Jordan, of Fayetteville, Ark; five grandchildren: Cody, Jesse and Dalton Thornton, of Aurora and Chloe and Aurora Jordan, of Bentonville, Ark; four siblings: Wanda Gary, of Pasadena, Calif., Wayne, and wife, Audrey Bain, of Dickson, Texas, Harvey Bain of Allen, Okla. and Roberta, and husband, Dale Miller, of Stratford, Okla.; 14 nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Mom, you will be greatly missed by all. Baseball Season in Aurora won't be the same without you. We love you.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Monett. Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the church. Burial will follow at Monett IOOF Cemetery.
